Company credit repair is common currency these days.  But you’ve seen the warnings and the red flags.  Because consumers have been frequently victimized by company credit repair agencies, there’s a country-wide effort, spearheaded by the Federal Trade Commission, and provided for by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, to inform individuals from Alabama to Washington about company credit repair scams.

Company credit repair:  absolutely no secret formulas

Be wary of company credit repair agencies that promise you the moon and the stars.  They just can’t.  They’ll tell you about loopholes in the law that will enable you to come out clean with a fresh credit rating.  There are no such loopholes.  The thing is company credit repair clinics will use every trick in the book to impress you with their success rate.  Just because you’re vulnerable doesn’t mean you have to be gullible.  In fact, one of the things these company credit repair agencies tend to do is flood the credit bureau with paper work disputing information on your credit report.  Some of them do so rather aggressively and pretend to be professionals.

Company credit repair clinics:  they’re not created equal

Since there’s nothing in our Constitution that prevents you from asking for help from company credit repair agencies, you’re perfectly at liberty to engage their services.  Just remember what the Federal Trade Commission wants you to do:

    * Obtain a written contract outlining in detail the fees and services to be provided
    * Ask them how long it will take to achieve concrete results
    * Ask for guarantees that come with the service (or if they offer a credit free repair kit, just for fun)
    * Their company name and address, including testimonials from about past clients, etc.

For example, if you need bad credit mortgage repair services done, ask them how they would go about it, and make sure you’re satisfied with their explanation.  Or else, you could be undertaking an entrepreneurial endeavor – why don’t you go ahead and ask them how they would do a business credit opportunity repair.

Finding a company credit repair agency that is reputable may seem daunting at first, but here are three places you can begin your search:  Better Business Bureau, State Attorney General’s Office, or Small Claims Court in your city.  Ask them if they know anything about the company credit repair agency you’re thinking of contacting.

One more thing:  you may be interested to know that some individuals who would rather leave the leg work to company credit repair agencies can pay anywhere from $400.00 to $2,000 in fees alone.  Compare that amount to $30.00 if you decide to do it yourself.
